My wife and I love local little places which source produce locally, seasonally, organically and don't really define themselves as any particular cuisine, they just make good food like this place and they import some interesting organic wines too!
A-la-carte, 5000yen per person:
Fresh baked walnut bread
HUGE fresh oysters
Burrata cheese starter with strawberries and cherry tomatoes
Cold vegetable medley
Avocado and raw prawn salad
Musscels and white asparagus
Steak, fresh bamboo shoot and cannellini beans
Bottle of organic white wine
A sweet little bistro in Wakabayashi, Setagaya ku (near Sangenjaya). Being a self confessed glutton, I was not stuffed after this meal, but I definitely felt pleasant and fed, and it has been an effort of mine recently to try not to 'over eat'! Anyway, the dishes here were delicious, fresh and inventive. The stand-out for me were their huge fresh oysters! I forgot to ask where they were from but they were sweet, creamy and absolutely divine. Similarly, the raw tiger prawn and avocado salad, with dill was fresh, sweet and delicious too. Burrata cheese is always a favourite and I liked it with the interesting combination of cherry tomatoes and strawberries and the steak was tender, juicy and cooked bloody to perfection. Not much needs to be said about white asparagus and muscles, which are always going to be good choice when in season. The quality of their ingredients was excellent and with a bottle of organic wine to come in at 5000yen per head, I was very happy.
